About HCE Press

HCE Press is an independent publishing company located in Toronto, Ontario. We publish books in a variety of genres and fields, such as memoirs, family histories, journalism, and creative writing.

The name of our press comes from James Joyce's Finnegans Wake, specifically the ephemeral character "Here Comes Everybody," a.k.a. Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker, among dozens of other names. The glyph beneath the initials in our logo represents another element in the Wake, the river Liffey, and thus also the character ALP. Joyce's masterpiece is an inspiration for our press in a number of regards, such as its literary innovation, typographic precision, and intellectual curiosity.
